stan-stash asked: I've heard Simon Kinburg say it makes no sense for the FF and X-Men to exist in the same universe. Any thoughts on that? Or is he not aware that Marvel has been doing that successfully for 50+ years?
I assume that he’s speaking specifically about the film incarnations of those properties. And depending on what the Fantastic Four movie depicts, he may very well be right.
Actually, it makes no sense in the comics either, we’ve just all agreed to look the other way.
There’s no rational reason why this collection of super-powered people are beloved, but *absolutely no natural super-humans can be tolerated*.
Why is your *lack of an origin story* the thing people hate and fear about you.
Also, the logical thing would be for all mutants to pretend to have been hit by cosmic rays, kissed by a magic turtle, or whatever it takes not to be tarred with the mutantcy brush.
Basically, “Bobby Drake is hated and feared” but “Johnny Storm gets his own statue” is an issue, and it’s more of an issue when all your stories tie more strongly into the X-Men’s core concept, and they never take time out to fight living islands or alien parasites.
