Anonymous asked: If Kurt Busiek still reblogs stuff on here and you reblog his stuff, why don't you rehire him? I want to see what he could do with an X-book. If anyone can resolve dangling 90s plot threads and bring back forgotten villains from the 2000s like Cassandra Nova, Elias Bogan, Vargas and The Children of the Vault, it's him. I also love what he did with Roger Stern on Avengers and Iron Man.

Kurt needs to want to be rehired, is the thing. And right now, he’s very much dedicated to focusing on his creator-owned work.

I speak to him on a semi-regular basis, and we’ve offered him stories and projects at different times over the years, but that’s not where his interests or his focus lies at the moment.

Plus, I think he’d have little interest even if he did come back in tidying up everybody else’s dangling plotlines.

I don’t even know who Elias Bogan, Vargas and the Children of the Vault are, and I know the name Cassandra Nova, but not much else…

The idea that Busiek’s obsession with the 60-80’s Avenger sub-plots he read before becoming a comic book writer will extend to stuff from a completely different decade, after he’d been a professional writer for years is hilarious.
